A match was scheduled to be played today between Chittagong Royals and Noakhali Express in the 2025-26 Bangladesh Premier League, but the players did not leave their hotel for the stadium, preventing the start of the match. According to reports from ESPNcricinfo, the players have made it clear that they are not ready to play any cricket until BCB Director M. Nazmul Islam resigns. Following the players’ protest, the board initially distanced itself from Nazmul’s statement. Now, the board has sent him a notice. However, his resignation has not yet been received.

Bangladesh cricketers are demanding Nazmul Hasan’s resignation over a statement he made. Hasan had said that if Bangladesh withdrew from the T20 World Cup, it would be the players, not the board, who would suffer the loss. Furthermore, he had called Bangladesh’s legendary player Tamim Iqbal an Indian agent, which angered the cricketers there.

Nazmul Hasan had stated that if Bangladesh did not play in the T20 World Cup, he would not compensate the players. He said, “Why should we compensate? If they can’t go anywhere and do anything, should we demand the return of the crores of rupees spent on them?” This statement by Nazmul Hasan has led to calls for his resignation, and it is now affecting the Bangladesh Cricket League.

He stated that if Bangladesh is excluded from the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup, the board will not suffer any financial loss. The only loss will be to the players, as they will not receive their match fees. Previously, Nazmul had attacked former captain Tamim Iqbal, calling him an Indian agent.

Tamim had advised the board to exercise caution in its decision to travel to India for the T20 World Cup and prioritize cricket, after which Nazmul had accused him of being part of Indian propaganda.
