In the second ODI between India and New Zealand, Prasidh Krishna’s fast bowling compounded the Kiwis’ difficulties. Chasing the target, New Zealand got off to a poor start, losing their openers early. Meanwhile, Prasidh Krishna provided India with a major breakthrough by bowling Henry Nicholls with a superb delivery.

In the second ODI between India and New Zealand being played in Rajkot on Wednesday (January 14), New Zealand captain Michael Bracewell won the toss and decided to bowl first. Batting first, India scored 284 runs, thanks to a century by KL Rahul. Rahul’s 112 runs off 92 balls steadied the innings and led the team to a respectable position.
New Zealand had a disappointing start in their chase. Opener Devon Conway was dismissed for 16, leaving Henry Nicholls hoping to hold one end up, but the Indian pacers didn’t let him last long. In fact, during the 13th over of the innings, Prasidh Krishna dismissed Henry Nicholls with a brilliant delivery. Nicholls attempted a pull shot on a back-of-length delivery, but the ball took the bottom edge of his bat and hit the stumps, uprooting his leg stump.
Nicholls was dismissed for just 10 runs. Earlier, in India’s batting, Rohit Sharma was dismissed for 24. Shubman Gill contributed 56 runs and Virat Kohli 23, but KL Rahul shouldered the real responsibility. Thanks to Rahul’s excellent innings, India posted a total of 284 runs, and in response, New Zealand’s start appeared shaky.
