PM Awas Yojana: The central and state governments are providing housing to economically weaker sections of society. Under the PM Awas Yojana 2026, verification is being conducted in all blocks of the district. The purpose of this process is to ensure that there were no irregularities during the survey and that only eligible beneficiaries’ names remain on the list. The administration is also checking to ensure that ineligible families have not been wrongly included in the scheme. Therefore, the verification process has been expedited at the block level.
This Task Must Be Completed by January 15th
The Rural Development Department has set a clear deadline for the verification process. The department has instructed that 100% verification of all families and submission of the report be completed by January 15th. In this regard, the DDC (Deputy Development Commissioner) has instructed all Block Development Officers (BDOs) to expedite the work and complete the verification within the stipulated time to avoid any delays in the further process.

Verification is Being Done in Three Phases
Currently, the second phase of verification is underway in the district. In the first phase, information was collected door-to-door through surveyors, and a report was prepared. In the second phase, a re-verification is being conducted at the block level. After this, in the third and final phase, district headquarters officials will conduct the verification to ensure that the list is completely transparent and accurate.
Dissatisfaction with the Pace of Verification
The DDC stated that according to the data available on the Awas Soft portal, the verification work is not yet satisfactory. So far, only about 50 percent of the verification has been completed. He has instructed all BDOs to complete the remaining work by the deadline through regular monitoring and strict supervision.
Irregularities Found in Self-Survey
It is worth noting that this time, the PM Awas Yojana also provided a self-survey facility, which was utilized by approximately 65,000 families who registered their details themselves. All these cases are also being verified. During the investigation, it has come to light that several families who already own a permanent house have also applied.

Over 50,000 names to be removed
Initial indications from the verification process suggest that the names of more than 50,000 families may be removed from the list. This is because many ineligible families had also included themselves in the survey. The actual number will be known only after the verification is complete, and the final report will be sent to the headquarters.
Over 400,000 families included
In the survey conducted in the district this time under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana (Prime Minister’s Rural Housing Scheme), a total of 443,519 families were included. Of these, the highest number, 44,958 families, were from Paru block, while the lowest number, 7,653 families, were from Murol block.
Report will form the basis for target allocation
After the completion of the verification process, a detailed report will be sent to the headquarters. Based on this report, the district will be allocated a target for house construction under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana.
