IPL 2026 is scheduled to begin in the last week of March. Shortly before this major tournament, an Indian cricketer has announced his retirement. Former KKR player KC Cariappa has bid adieu to BCCI cricket forever. He posted an emotional post on social media, thanking everyone who supported him in his cricketing journey. Cariappa’s IPL career was short, but he left no stone unturned in leaving his mark.
The Indian cricketer retired with an emotional message
Cariappa announced his retirement from Indian cricket in an Instagram post. In an emotional message, he wrote, “From the streets to the stadium lights, and wearing every jersey with pride, I have lived my childhood dream. Today, I officially announce my retirement from BCCI cricket. This journey has given me everything. Wins have made me happy, losses have broken my heart, and I have learned so much. I would like to thank the KSCA for grooming me and believing in me, which was most important.”
He further wrote, “Thank you to the Cricket Association of Mizoram for trusting me and supporting me like family. This 7-year IPL journey will always be in my heart. I am proud to have led KKR, PBKS, and RR. Thank you to every selector, coach, teammate, support staff, and fan. You all not only supported me, but supported my dream. I may be retiring from BCCI cricket, but I will never retire from loving the game.”
Cariappa played in the Indian Premier League for seven years and has been a part of three different teams. In 2015, KKR signed him for a whopping sum of INR 2.40 crore. He played two seasons for Punjab, earning INR 1.60 crore.
In 2019, he joined KKR as a replacement for INR 20 lakh. In 2021, 2022, and 2023, he was part of RR, earning a total of INR 80 lakh. He managed to earn INR 5 crore from the IPL. He played 11 matches in the IPL and took 8 wickets.
