Under this scheme, women are given loans without any collateral to start their own small business or expand an existing one. What is the Udyogini Yojana?

The Udyogini Yojana was first launched by the Karnataka government with the aim of encouraging self-employment among women in the state. Later, it was implemented in other states with the support of the central government. The objective of this scheme is to make women financially strong so that they are not dependent on anyone. Under this scheme, women are given loans without any collateral or guarantee, enabling them to start beauty parlours, tailoring businesses, shops, food businesses, or other small businesses.

Which women can apply?
Only women between the ages of 18 and 55 can apply for the Udyogini Yojana. It is also essential that the applicant has not defaulted on any loan taken from a bank or financial institution previously. Generally, the annual income of the woman’s family should not exceed ₹1.5 lakh. However, this income condition is relaxed for widowed and disabled women.

How much loan amount is available?
Under this scheme, women are given loans ranging from one lakh rupees to three lakh rupees to start or expand their business. This loan is completely collateral-free, which means there is no additional pressure on the women. In some cases, they may also receive a subsidy from the government.

Some essential documents need to be submitted when applying for the Udyogini Yojana. These include a passport-size photograph, Aadhaar card, family income certificate, business project report, caste certificate, and a certificate of training or work experience, if available. How to apply
If you wish to avail of this scheme, you can apply at your nearest bank. Alternatively, you can also apply online through the myscheme.gov.in portal. Previously, this scheme was limited to women in Karnataka, but now women across the country can benefit from it.
