Bengal’s fast bowlers wreaked havoc once again in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The pace trio of Mohammed Shami , Mukesh Kumar, and Akash Deep bowled out Jammu and Kashmir for just 63 runs in 20.4 overs today (December 31) . The match was played at the Sanosara Cricket Ground in Rajkot . Bengal won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Mukesh Kumar took 4 wickets for 32 runs in 8.4 overs . Mukesh had taken a 5- wicket haul against Chandigarh in the previous match . Akash Deep also took 4 wickets for 16 runs in 6 overs . Mohammed Shami bowled 6 overs , including 2 maidens . Shami conceded 14 runs in his spell and took 2 wickets .

Star Indian pacer Mohammed Shami bowled brilliantly in the domestic tournaments, but hasn’t been included in Team India since. Selectors initially stated that Shami wasn’t fully fit. Meanwhile, Shami has been playing domestic cricket regularly. If reports are to be believed, Shami may return to Team India. Selectors are closely monitoring his domestic cricket performance.

In today’s match against Jammu and Kashmir, he took two wickets in his first spell itself. He bowled 29 dot balls in 6 overs and troubled the batsmen a lot. Despite being wicketless in the first three matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he took 6 wickets. Shami bowled two maiden overs in the innings in which Vidarbha scored 382 runs against Bengal. He took 20 wickets in four Ranji Trophy matches.

Jammu and Kashmir were bowled out for just 63 runs against Bengal. This is the lowest total by any team in the 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy. Shami wreaked havoc with the new ball. After that, Akash Deep and Mukesh Kumar took over, taking four wickets each to end Jammu and Kashmir’s innings. Bengal won the match within 10 overs.
