The fifth and final match of the 5-match T20 series between the Indian women’s team and the Sri Lankan women’s team was played last night, i.e. on December 30, 2025, at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. Deepti Sharma, the number-1 bowler in T20 International, has become the bowler with the most wickets in this format. By taking one wicket in the fifth T20 International match played in Thiruvananthapuram, Deepti broke the world record of Australian bowler Megan Shutt. Deepti dismissed Neelakshi Silva in the 14th over of the Sri Lankan innings. This was Deepti’s 152nd wicket in T20 International, with which she has surpassed Megan Shutt’s record of 151 wickets.

Before the fifth match against Sri Lanka, Deepti Sharma was tied with Megan Shute for the most wickets, with both having 151 wickets. With this, Deepti Sharma has achieved another major milestone. She has become the first Indian bowler to take 150 T20 International wickets in both men’s and women’s cricket. She achieved this record last week in the third T20 International against Sri Lanka, dismissing Kavisha Dilhari.
In the same match, Deepti Sharma also created history. She became the first player (male or female) in T20 cricket history to score more than 1000 runs and take more than 150 wickets. Deepti has scored more than 1100 runs in T20 International cricket so far. Her average is 23.40 and her strike rate is 104.26. During this period, she has also scored two half-centuries.
