Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur has become the leading Indian with the most Player of the Match awards in the T20 format, equaling Mithali Raj. Both players have achieved this feat 12 times each. In overall, the year 2025 proved very special and memorable for Kaur and his girls for team India. Before the year end, the captain added another feather in her crown which showed why Kaur is labelled as one of greatest in the modern day women’s cricket.
An all time record by Harmanpreet Kaur
Among Indian women players, Shafali Verma (8) and Smriti Mandhana (8) share second place in this list. Harmanpreet Kaur scored 68 runs off 43 balls in the fifth T20I against Sri Lanka at the Greenfield International Stadium. Her innings included one six and nine fours. Harmanpreet Kaur shared a 61-run partnership with Amanjot Kaur when India were 77 for five.

Meanwhile, Shafali Verma, who scored the most runs in the series with 241 runs at an average of 80.33 in five matches, was named Player of the Series. This marked the third time the 21-year-old has been honored with this title. With this, Shafali has become the joint-number one Indian with the most Player of the Series titles.
In addition to Shafali, Mithali Raj, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Deepti Sharma have each been awarded this title three times. In the match, India scored 175 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur top-scored with 68 runs, while Amanzoor Kaur made 21 and Arundhati Reddy made an unbeaten 27.

In response, the Sri Lankan team managed only 160 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted overs. Opener Hasini Perera scored 65 runs for the team, while Imesha Dulani made 50. India won the match by 15 runs and completed a 5-0 series sweep.
