According to a PTI report, since Gautam Gambhir became head coach, Team India players have become increasingly insecure about their place, a level not seen during Rahul Dravid’s tenure. During Dravid’s three-year tenure, players’ roles were clear and they had more opportunities to prove themselves. However, the situation has changed, and many players are worried about their place, for several reasons.

Gambhir believes that batting positions in limited- overs cricket should not be fixed ; they are overrated , except for the opening pair. This gives players flexibility , but also increases uncertainty. Changes to the playing eleven in the name of team combinations have become common.Some reports have even compared Gambhir to former coach Greg Chappell , whose strictness had affected the dressing room at the time.
Recently, during the Test series against South Africa , former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif also made serious allegations against the team management of creating an ” atmosphere of fear and insecurity . “

Kaif said on his YouTube channel, ” There’s a lot of confusion in the team . The players seem to lack confidence. Everyone is playing with fear, and no one feels the team management is standing with them. ” Sai Sudarshan was dropped from the next match despite scoring 87 against South Africa . This prompted Kaif to say, ” If a player doesn’t gain confidence even after scoring a 100, how will the other players ever gain confidence? “
