A fresh season of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, India’s biggest ODI tournament, kicked off with a bang on December 24th. The tournament saw a flurry of centuries on its very first day. Rohit Sharma, returning to the Vijay Hazare Trophy after a long hiatus, scored a blistering century for Mumbai.

Rohit Sharma smashed a blistering century against Sikkim at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. He reached his century in just 62 balls, with 80 of those runs coming from boundaries. This marked his 37th century in List A cricket. Rohit’s brilliant 155-run innings included 18 fours and 9 sixes. Hitman’s blistering century helped Mumbai defeat Sikkim by 8 wickets.

Like Rohit, Virat Kohli’s bat also spoke loudly on the opening day of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Virat Kohli made his comeback in domestic ODI cricket for Delhi after a long time and made the fans rejoice. Virat completed his century in 83 balls against Andhra in Bengaluru, which is his 58th century in List-A cricket. With this century, Kohli came closer to Sachin Tendulkar’s world record of scoring the maximum number of 60 centuries in List-A cricket. Thanks to this century inning of Virat, Delhi team was successful in defeating Andhra by 4 wickets.

The performances of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in their respective first matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 have raised fans’ expectations significantly. Fans are eagerly awaiting the next match of both the legendary players. Mumbai’s next match is against Uttarakhand, which will be played on December 26 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
