Sthree Suraksha Scheme: The central and state governments are running several beneficial schemes to benefit women. The government’s objective in running these schemes is to make women financially independent. Keeping this in mind, the Kerala government has launched a new scheme to empower unemployed women financially. This scheme is called the Sthree Suraksha Yojana (Women’s Safety Scheme).

Under this scheme, eligible women will be given financial assistance of Rs. 1000 every month as a pension. The application process for the scheme started on December 22, 2025, Monday. Women residing in Kerala who wish to avail of this scheme must understand the eligibility criteria and application process.

What is the Sthree Suraksha Yojana?

The Kerala government issued an official order on November 10, 2025, providing information about the Sthree Suraksha Yojana. This order clarified all the rules and conditions related to the scheme. Now, the application process for this scheme has started. The main objective of this scheme is to provide financial assistance to women in the state who are unemployed and do not have a regular source of income. The government is trying to make them self-reliant by providing them with a pension of Rs. 1000 every month.

Who is eligible for the Sthree Suraksha Yojana?

To avail of this scheme, the woman must be a permanent resident of Kerala. Women and transgender individuals between the ages of 35 and 65 can apply under this scheme. Women who are already receiving a pension from any other government pension scheme, such as Service Family Pension, Single Woman Pension, Disability Pension, EPF Pension, or any welfare fund board, are not eligible for this scheme.

In addition, the woman must have a yellow or pink ration card. If a woman has received a permanent or temporary job in the central or state government, or any grant-aided institution, or is residing outside the state of Kerala, she will also not be considered eligible for this scheme.

Benefits of the Sthree Suraksha Yojana

Under this scheme, the Kerala government will provide a pension of Rs. 1000 every month to eligible women. This amount will be distributed directly to women to provide them with financial assistance to meet their basic needs.

Documents Required for the Stree Suraksha Yojana

Some essential documents will be required when applying for the scheme. These include a ration card, although blue or white ration cards will not be accepted. An Aadhaar card is mandatory. For age proof, a birth certificate, school certificate, passport, or driving license can be provided. A medical certificate issued by a doctor may also be accepted, provided a self-declaration accompanies it. Proof of address is also required to prove that the applicant is a resident of Kerala.

How to Apply for the Stree Suraksha Yojana

Applications for the Stree Suraksha Yojana can be submitted online. To apply, visit the official website of the Government of Kerala: ksmart.lsgkerala.gov.in/ui/web-portal. After applying, the documents and information will be verified by the LSGI Secretary. Once the verification is complete, a list of eligible women will be prepared, and they will receive the pension benefits.
