Former cricketers are continuously commenting on Shubman Gill’s exclusion from the T20 World Cup squad. Now, World Cup winner Robin Uthappa has reacted to Shubman Gill’s exclusion from the T20 World Cup squad.
Uthappa said on his YouTube channel, “In World Cup teams, you can have a maximum of one player who is not in good form, you cannot have more than that. That is the problem.” Uthappa further said, Gill has been dropped because Suryakumar Yadav is not scoring runs. Perhaps this is the reason, “I can tell you, SKY is in form but is not scoring runs. If you have not played cricket at a certain level, then it is very difficult to understand. Like Shubman Gill is not in form.”
Regarding Gill, Robin Uthappa said, “He looked confused. I’m not saying Gill deserved to be in the team. His current form was raising the biggest question. He doesn’t look in good form, you can see it in his eyes. When you look at him, he looks very confused, even when he’s batting. He’s getting some good balls, Lungi bowled very well throughout the series and when Shubman played, he faced problems.
Uthappa further said, “I was shocked to see the Indian team for the T20 World Cup. I had just returned home and was spending time with the kids, and I was tired because I had travelled late at night. I rested for a while, and when I woke up, I looked at my phone, and I was shocked, what? I was really happy. I think they have selected a very strong team, but the way they have done it, and for me, it is not about leaving people out of the team, it is about how you take these decisions.”
He further added, “You should not have made him the vice-captain in the beginning. You can bring him in, you already have a vice-captain. Leave him as he is, or don’t announce the vice-captain.”
