Chennai Super Kings spent ₹41 crore to acquire nine players for IPL 2026. The franchise spent over ₹28 crore on two uncapped players. Their salaries will be more than three times MS Dhoni’s. The team’s 25-player squad is complete, with ₹24 million remaining in its purse.

CSK made some smart moves in IPL 2026 auction

Chennai Super Kings added Sanju Samson to their squad via trade ahead of the IPL 2026 auction. Sanju’s salary is ₹18 crore. Including Samson, CSK retained a total of 16 players, four of whom were foreigners. The team had nine vacant player slots, which have now been filled.

Kartik Sharma and Prashanth Veer were the most expensive players purchased by Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2026 auction. Both were uncapped players with a base price of only ₹30 lakh. However, other teams also showed interest in them, leading to their price increasing. Chennai bought Kartik for ₹14.2 crore and Prashanth for ₹14.2 crore, meaning the franchise spent a total of ₹28.4 crore on these two players.

It is worth to note that Chennai Super Kings bought Sarfaraz Khan, Matt Henry, Akeal Hosein, Matthew Short and Zachary Foulkes at their base prices in the IPL 2026 auction.
