EPFO Update – The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is soon going to simplify the process of withdrawing provident fund (PF) money, eliminating the current hurdles faced by employees. Employees will soon be able to withdraw their PF money easily. The EPFO is about to launch a direct ATM withdrawal facility. This means employees will be able to withdraw their PF money directly from ATMs.
Currently, employees have to submit an application, which takes one to two weeks to be approved. This will no longer be the case once the new facility is launched. The ATM withdrawal facility will be part of EPFO 3.0.

This facility is likely to be launched by the end of January or the first week of February. Media reports are making this claim. There is currently no official update on the exact date of the ATM facility launch.
What is EPFO 3.0?
According to the Central Labour Ministry, instructions have already been given to the EPFO to adopt bank-like processes. This will enable faster and easier service for customers. Currently, withdrawing money from PF accounts takes a minimum of 8 to 12 days.
Once the ATM facility is launched, members will no longer have to wait a long time to withdraw money in emergencies. After the claim settlement, the money will be available within minutes. PF employees are eagerly awaiting this ATM withdrawal facility, and their wait is about to end.

According to reports, a limit will be set on the amount that can be withdrawn from ATMs. Initially, this limit could be up to Rs. 1 lakh. The final decision on this will be taken at the CBT (Central Board of Trustees) meeting. The process will also be simple.
What will the process be?
The EPFO may issue a special card to its members. This card will be directly linked to their PF account. Before withdrawing money from the ATM, members will need to file an online claim according to the existing rules. Once this claim is approved, they will be able to use this card to withdraw cash from ATMs.
This initiative by the EPFO will directly benefit approximately 8 crore employees. This facility will help meet funding requirements in emergencies. All employees are now eagerly awaiting its launch.
