The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has now made another decision to clash with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The Pakistan Cricket Board is planning to have the Pakistan Super League (PSL) clash with IPL. However, this is not the first time the PSL and IPL will be held simultaneously. The 11th season of the PSL will be played from March 26 to May 3 next year, marking the second consecutive time it will coincide with the IPL.
Pakistan’s plan to clash directly with BCCI
Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced the new season of the Pakistan Super League during the PSL roadshow in New York. The IPL also begins in the last week of March and runs until the end of May. Naqvi said that any international schedule of the Pakistan team during this period will be adjusted.
Pakistan is scheduled to play two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20 matches in Bangladesh in March-April. This year, the T20 World Cup is also scheduled to be held in India and Sri Lanka in February-March, which is scheduled to run until the first week of March.
Clearly, the Pakistan Cricket Board will now have to shift its own team’s schedule due to PSL 2026. If the PSL is held in March and May, the Pakistan vs. Bangladesh series will undoubtedly begin in late May. However, Bangladesh’s schedule will also need to be considered, as shifting series across all three formats would be extremely difficult.
The series may be shortened, as Bangladesh also has to tour New Zealand. It remains to be seen how the Pakistan Cricket Board will accommodate this series. However, one thing is certain: cricket fans will be able to watch continuous matches. It’s worth noting that many players who have retired from the IPL or have been released from the IPL will be part of the Pakistan Super League.
