The night at the Dharamshala was not only special for team India, but also a memorable one for Hardik Pandya. The star Indian allrounder got his 100th T20I wicket for team India in the match. With the scalp, he cemented his legecay as a star allrounder in the shorter format of the game.
100th wicket for Hardik Pandya
The third T20I against South Africa in Dharamsala on Sunday wasn’t particularly impressive for Hardik Pandya, a formidable batsman. Pandya’s batting didn’t work, and he managed just one wicket for 23 runs in three overs. However, this single wicket etched his name into the history books.
Hardik Pandya had Stubbs caught by wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma, marking his 100-wicket haul. This double represents scoring 1,000 runs, taking 100 wickets, and hitting the same number of sixes. This feat is achieved by only four players in the world in the 18-year history of T20 cricket.
When it comes to scoring at least 1,000 or more runs, hitting 100 or more sixes, and taking as many wickets in the T20 format, there are only four cricketers in the world, including Hardik. These include Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza, who has been aging like a vintage wine in recent years, Afghanistan captain Mohammad Nabi, and Malaysian Indian-origin batsman Virandeep Singh. Pandya’s feat, beyond superb, sent his fans into a frenzy. They showered their beloved cricketer with love on social media.
Hardik not only took a wicket but also scored a century of wickets, so BCCI also congratulated the all-rounder. When the number of wickets is 100, it is being measured in doubles of 1000. But the actual number of runs is 2000.
Milestone Moment!
That moment when Hardik Pandya became only the third #TeamIndia cricketer (in Men’s cricket) to scalp 100 T20I wickets 👏👏
