November School Holidays: October saw a long holiday season for several festivals, including Dussehra, Diwali, Bhai Dooj, and Chhath Puja. Now, November is also set to be full of holidays, offering schoolchildren plenty of time for both study and enjoyment. Several special days are also scheduled for November, such as Guru Nanak Jayanti, Kartik Purnima, and Children’s Day. Many schools are expected to be closed for these occasions. While there are fewer holidays this month, many state and cultural festivals will be celebrated.

Guru Nanak Jayanti – This festival is celebrated with great pomp and show in honour of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism.
Children’s Day – November 14th marks the birth anniversary of the country’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Children’s Day is celebrated because of his love for children. Special programs, sports, and cultural events are also organised in schools on this day.
Guru Teg Bahadur Martyrdom Day – Schools will be closed on November 24th. This day is celebrated to pay tribute to the ninth Guru of Sikhism. Schools and government offices remain closed on this day in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.
Jharkhand Foundation Day will be celebrated on November 15th, 2025. This day commemorates the formation of Jharkhand from Bihar in 2000. The birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda is also celebrated on this day.
