Currently, Honda’s presence in the Indian market is limited. The company currently offers only three major models: the Honda Elevate, Honda City, and Honda Amaze. The decline in demand, particularly in the sedan segment, is clearly impacting Honda’s sales. The launch of the Elevate marked a return to the SUV segment, but it hasn’t yet achieved significant success against established models like the Creta and Seltos. Therefore, the launch of new models will be crucial for Honda in the coming years.
Honda’s New Plan by 2030
Honda Motor CEO Toshihiro Mibe stated during the Japan Mobility Show that the company is working on an attractive and aggressive model lineup for India. According to him, more than 10 new models will be launched by 2030, seven of which will be full-fledged SUVs. Some of these will be based on global platforms, while others will be specifically designed to suit the driving styles and needs of Indian customers. Honda has also established a dedicated project team in India to implement this strategy.
0 Series SUV to Launch in 2026
Honda is set to launch its highly anticipated 0 Series SUV in India in 2026. It was recently showcased at the Japan Motor Show. This SUV will come with several key features and share some key components with the Elevate platform. Significantly, this SUV will be manufactured in India and later shipped to other Asian countries, including Japan. This clearly indicates that Honda is working towards developing India as its global production hub.
