According to reports, this SUV will be introduced in a private media preview on 20 October 2025, and will have a public debut the next day.

The ongoing discussions about its launch for many years are now going to take a full stop. Toyota will present it in its Japan Mobility Show 2025, where its production model is expected to become the highlight of the show.

Mini Land Cruiser

Toyota has always made its Land Cruiser brand a symbol of strength, trust and off-road performance. The new Land Cruiser FJ seems to carry on the same tradition, but this time in a smaller, more economical and eco-friendly avatar.

IMV 0 platform

According to reports, Land Cruiser FJ will be built on the IMV 0 ladder frame platform. The same platform has also been used in Toyota Hilux Champ. This means that the new FJ will also see real off-road capability.

In terms of design, this SUV will adopt the traditional off-road look. It will see buxy portions, upright stance, squared wheel arches, thick C-pillars, and rugged cladding — which will give it a true off-roader identity.

Engine

Talking about the engine, Toyota has not yet confirmed the engine details of the Land Cruiser FJ, but early reports suggest that it will be found in 2.7-litre naturely aspirated petrol engine, taken from Toyota’s Fortuner and Hilux. This engine will generate power of around 163 hp and torque of 245 Nm.

The design of the new FJ will be a great mix of both classic and modern. It will retain the design elements of the old FJ Cruiser such as buxy front fascia, short overhangs, and wide stance.
