NHAI: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has taken a new and interesting step towards a clean India. Now, if a traveler spots a dirty toilet at a toll plaza, they can send a photo and receive a reward of Rs 1,000. This reward will be directly added to their FASTag account as a recharge. This campaign will run on all national highways across the country until October 31, 2025.

Reporting will be done through the HighwayYatra app

According to a government statement, to receive this reward, travelers will need to use the HighwayYatra app. Users must upload a geo-tagged, time-stamped photo, along with their name, vehicle number, mobile number, and location. If the photo is found to be accurate, that vehicle number will receive a reward of ₹1,000 in the form of a FASTag recharge. However, this reward is non-transferable and cannot be redeemed in cash.

Only one reward per dirty toilet

NHAI has clarified that this scheme applies only to toilets under NHAI control. Toilets at dhabas, petrol pumps, or private institutions will not be included. Furthermore, a vehicle number will only receive a reward once, and if multiple reports are received for a single toilet in a single day, only the first valid report will be considered for the reward.

is an effort to promote cleanliness and increase public responsibility and awareness. NHAI states that only through public participation can roadside amenities be improved. By rewarding those who report dirtiness, the government is moving towards making cleanliness a mass movement. This campaign could prove to be a powerful catalyst for reviving the spirit of a clean India.
