UP DA Hike : Now there is a good news for government employees of Uttarpradesh. The Uttar Pradesh government has provided significant relief to millions of state employees and pensioners. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has approved a 3 percent increase in dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR) for approximately 2.8 million state employees and pensioners. According to an official statement, this decision will increase DA and DR from 55 percent to 58 percent.

According to the agency, this increase will be effective from July 1, 2025, with the increased payment made in cash starting in October 2025. The Chief Minister described this decision as a sensitive step taken in the interest of employees and pensioners. He said that this decision is aimed at providing relief from inflation and the government is committed to the welfare of its employees and senior citizens.

This decision will result in an additional financial burden of approximately Rs 1,960 crore by March 2026. Of this, an additional cash amount of Rs 795 crore will be given in November 2025, while Rs 185 crore will be deposited in the General Provident Fund (GPF) accounts of employees covered under the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).

Furthermore, the government will incur an additional burden of over ₹550 crore in arrears for the period from July to September 2025. From December 2025, the government will have to spend an average of ₹245 crore per month to continue the increased allowance.

According to officials, the Chief Minister has directed that this increased allowance be made available to all eligible employees and pensioners in a timely manner before the festive season. A senior Finance Department official stated that this increase in dearness allowance is in line with the recent announcement by the central government. This move will also help increase the purchasing power of state employees and strengthen the local economy.
