Ration Card: Big news has arrived for millions of families who benefit from government rations. The government has now introduced a significant rule for ration card holders. Only those who have updated their e-KYC will be eligible for subsidised or free rations under the National Food Security Act (NFSA). This step aims to prevent fraudulent beneficiaries and ensure that the scheme’s benefits reach genuine, eligible individuals. Here’s how you can complete e-KYC offline and online:
E-KYC will be mandatory every 5 years
According to the new rules, e-KYC of ration cards will now be mandatory every 5 years. Many people last completed their e-KYC in 2013; now they will have to redo it. The government has made this process much easier than before. People can now complete their e-KYC from the comfort of their homes.
How to do e-KYC via Online
First, download the Mera KYC and Aadhaar FaceRD apps on your mobile.
Open the app and enter your location.
Now enter your Aadhaar number, captcha, and verify with the OTP received on your mobile.
Your Aadhaar details will appear on the screen.
Now select the Face e-KYC option—the camera will automatically turn on.
Click your photo and tap Submit.
Your e-KYC process will be completed.
How to check your e-KYC status:
First, open the My KYC app again and then enter your location.
Enter your Aadhaar number and OTP.
If the screen shows “Status: Y,” the e-KYC has been completed.
If “Status: N” appears, the process is still incomplete.
You can also get e-KYC done by visiting the nearest ration shop or common service centre. You must have an Aadhar Card and a Ration Card. There, the officer will verify your identity and complete the e-KYC.
