The government of Uttar Pradesh has decided to take some strict actions against them who are using ration cards in a worng way. The government has identified many names who are misusing their documents to obtain free ration. This will now going to change. Government is all se to cancel many fraudulent ration cards.
According to media reports, there are 3.62 crore ration cards in Uttar Pradesh, representing 14.68 crore people. The Yogi government is going to cancel approximately 16.67 lakh ration cards. The documents of these people have been found to be fraudulent. So, let’s find out if your name is included in this list.
How were freeloaders identified?
Recently, the government cross-checked ration card data with data from several other departments, such as the Income Tax Department, Transport Department, GST, and the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, to identify irregularities in ration cards. During this process, it was discovered that 996,643 of the people issued ration cards were income tax payers. This brought the government to the attention of those who had attempted to take advantage of this facility by obtaining ration cards fraudulently.
When the government analyzed the data, it found more than 6,500 individuals whose firms had annual turnovers exceeding ₹2.5 million. Furthermore, 474,000 individuals owned light motor vehicles (cars). Furthermore, 189,701 farmers with land holdings exceeding 5 acres were included in this list. Now, the government has identified these freeloaders, and the names of such fraudsters will soon be removed from the ration card list.
Who is the real beneficiary of ration?
According to the Indian government’s eligibility criteria, the Antyodaya ration card is provided to families below the poverty line. Furthermore, households with an annual income of less than ₹3 lakh in urban areas and less than ₹2 lakh in rural areas can avail of this facility.
