7th Pay Commission: Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has given a major gift to state government employees and pensioners ahead of Diwali. He approved a 3 percent increase in dearness allowance (DA), meaning the dearness allowance (DA) has now increased from 55 percent to 58 percent of salaries under the 7th Pay Commission. This government decision will affect approximately 800,000 employees and 440,000 pensioners, totaling 1240,000 beneficiaries.

DA will be applicable from July 1

It should be noted that the dearness allowance decision was implemented at the state level immediately after the central government increased the DA. Panchayat Samiti and Zila Parishad employees will also benefit from this increase. The increased DA will be paid as a cash payment in the October 2025 salary. Pensioners will be paid the increased dearness allowance starting July 1, 2025, while employees will receive the additional three-month amount from July 1 to September 30 by depositing it directly into their GPF accounts.

It should be noted that once the increased dearness allowance is implemented, the state government will incur an additional financial burden of Rs 1,230 crore annually. Dearness allowance is an additional allowance given to government employees and pensioners, calculated based on the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI) in response to rising inflation in the country. The purpose of increasing dearness allowance is to strengthen the financial position of government employees and pensioners.

The central government increases dearness allowance for central government employees and pensioners, while state governments increase dearness allowance in line with the central government. Dearness allowance was initially increased to 55 percent in March, effective January 1, 2025. It has now been increased to 58 percent in September, effective July 1, 2025.
