There’s good news for farmers in Madhya Pradesh. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has taken a major initiative to bring smiles to farmers’ faces amid the Diwali and Dussehra festivals. He has transferred more than Rs 653 crore in relief funds directly to the accounts of affected farmers, benefiting approximately 8.84 lakh farmers. This assistance is aimed at mitigating crop losses due to natural disasters such as heavy rains, pest infestations, and yellow mosaic.
What is special about this plan?
This amount was given to farmers whose crops were severely affected by natural disasters. These include districts like Mandsaur, Khandwa, Vidisha, Burhanpur, Neemuch, Ratlam, Mandla, Shahdol, and Damoh. Areas that received more than 21 percent rainfall received priority.
How much help did you get?
Under this scheme, affected farmers receive different amounts for different animals and crops. For the first time, financial assistance has also been provided for yellow mosaic. This year, for the first time, yellow mosaic affected the soybean crop, benefiting approximately 4.94 lakh farmers in 1,700 villages.
How did you get help?
The Chief Minister, in the interest of farmers, transferred money to farmers’ accounts through a single click under the Digital Government initiative. This saves farmers time and ensures immediate assistance without having to fill out lengthy forms. Furthermore, the government has already released approximately ₹230 crore in relief funds for losses caused by excessive rainfall and floods.
What are the future plans?
CM Yadav also indicated that in addition to the current schemes, the government plans to announce more relief plans soon. Farmers are now required to update their documents to quickly avail of financial assistance. The government’s effort is to ensure that every affected farmer receives timely assistance and is able to support their families comfortably.
