Ration Card Update: A large population in India is fraudulently taking advantage of the ration card facility. But this will no longer be the case. Did you know that the Uttar Pradesh government is about to deal a major blow to those who are concealing information and taking advantage of free rations? This has been revealed during data verification.
The department has now begun the process of cancelling the ration cards of such people. There are 7,70,559 ration card holders in Hardoi district. These include 1,17,211 Antyodaya ration card holders and 6,53,348 eligible household ration card holders.
Currently, as per government instructions, free ration is being provided to all ration card holders. Antyodaya ration card holders receive 35 kilograms of ration per card, and eligible household ration card holders receive five kilograms per unit.
What are the ration card standards?
The central government has set certain standards for availing of ration card benefits. Antyodaya ration cards are issued to families living below the poverty line. Sixteen criteria have been set for eligible households to qualify for the ration card. Urban residents must have an income of less than 3 rupees, while rural residents must have an income of less than 2 lakh rupees.
In rural areas, a family must own less than 5 acres (30 bighas) of land. The Government of India compiled the eligible list based on these reviews. However, due to negligence on the part of departments and the cunningness of individuals, ineligible people were included. The list has now been identified and sent to the districts. Upon verification, details will be uploaded to the portal. Furthermore, instructions have been given to remove the names of ineligible people from the list.
How many ineligible people are included in Hardoi?
According to the department’s report, 77,676 ration cards have been identified in the list of ineligible people in Hardoi. The department is now conducting on-site verification. During verification, 65 ration card holders were found to have annual business income exceeding ₹25 lakh. They are now reporting this in their GST returns.
Even those with more than 5 acres of land are taking advantage.
There is no shortage of people who are sabotaging the free ration scheme. There are 2,379 ration card holders whose families own more than 5 acres of land. Despite this, they were still taking advantage of the free ration. Similarly, based on income, there are 1,952 individuals whose income exceeds ₹2 lakh but are still taking advantage.
