New Delhi: Before Diwali, the Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh has made an announcement that will benefit lakhs of people. The government has decided to end all non-e-challans for 5 years. Now all these challans will be shown on the port in the category of Disposed – Abated and “Closed – Time-Barred.. The time limit has passed.

Along with this, obstacles like fitness, permit, vehicle transfer and HSRP related to these challans will also be removed automatically. Tax-related challans are going to be out of the scope of this relief. The department clarified the situation that this is only a closure, that is, neither will anyone get a refund nor will the old challans be reopened. This will benefit the people.

How many lakh e-challans will be affected?

According to a report, all e-challans will be affected between 2017 and 2021. Meaning the number of these challans was 30.52 lakh. Out of these, 17.59 lakh have already been disposed of. Whereas, according to a report, 12.93 lakh challans were pending. Of the pending challans, 10.84 lakh were pending in the court and 1.29 lakh at the office level.

Now all these challans Digital disposal of will be disposed of digitally within the time limit. Along with this, all the barriers will be removed on the front-end. The entire record and audit trail will be safe on the back-end.

What should people do in such a situation?

I, for some reason, your challan is between 2017-21, and it is still showing pending or blocked on the portal. Then you can check it after a month by going to the e-challan portal. If, for some reason, your case was pending in the court, then Disposed – Abated will appear, and all the barriers will be removed.

I, for some reason, the challan was not sent to the court,,t and the time limit has passed, then Closed – Time-Bar (Non-Tax) will appear, and the blocks related to it will be removed.
