Documents required for traffic challan waiver in Lok Adalat

If you have booked an appointment for Lok Adalat and have also taken a slot through the token received, then now you have to reach the court half an hour before that time. Along with reaching there, you will also have to take some important documents with you. The important documents to be taken to Lok Adalat include photocopy of challan, vehicle registration certificate, driving license, identity card, photocopy of summons/notice, old receipt of challan payment and authorization letter.

Which documents are required for what?

Copy of Challan: Carry one or more photocopies of the traffic challan you want to get waived off. The traffic challan number, vehicle number and date should be clearly written on it.

Vehicle Registration Certificate (RC): Every vehicle has a registration certificate i.e. RC, which contains the details of the vehicle and the name of its owner. You will have to carry the original copy of the RC and a verified copy with you.

Driving license of the driver: Driving license is required to drive a motor vehicle in India. This certifies that you are an authorized driver. You will also have to carry its original and photocopy with you.

Identity Card: You must carry any one of the identity proof like Aadhar Card, PAN Card, Passport or Voter ID with you to the Lok Adalat. These verify your identity.

Summons or Notice: If you have received time or notice from the court for any special traffic challan, then you must carry a copy of that too.

Authorization Letter: If the person whose vehicle has been challaned for a traffic challan is unable to go to the Lok Adalat himself for some reason and sends someone in his place, you must also give an authorization letter (Power of Attorney) to that person.

Old receipt of challan payment: If you have partially paid your traffic challan, you should also carry its receipt with you. This ensures transparency in the process.
