The Bihar government has started a new plan to give financial help to farmers. Under the Fourth Agriculture Road Map, the government has promised to provide irrigation water to every farm.

To support this, farmers are being helped by giving electricity connections to diesel pump sets under the Mukhyamantri Krishi Vidyut Sambandhan Yojana. So far, out of 7.20 lakh diesel pump sets reported by the Agriculture Department, 3.60 lakh pump sets have received electricity connections.

Plan Targets

The Bihar Power Department plans to give electricity to 4.80 lakh pump sets. This includes 1.20 lakh new pump sets in addition to the 3.60 lakh pump sets already connected.

Target for 2024-25: This year, the government aimed to connect 1.50 lakh pump sets. So far, 1 lakh pump sets have electricity, and the remaining 50,000 will be connected by March 2025.

Target for 2025-26: The government plans to connect 1.50 lakh pump sets in this year.

Target for September 2026: By 2026, 1.80 lakh pump sets will be connected under this scheme.

Free Benefits for Farmers

The best thing about this scheme is that electricity connections are completely free for farmers. They do not need to pay any fee. The application process is simple and easy, so farmers can get the benefit without any trouble.

Using electric pumps will be 10 times cheaper than diesel pumps. This will reduce costs and increase farmers’ profits.

How to Apply

  • Farmers can apply using the project app, the official Power Department website, or by visiting the local electricity office.
  • Farmers only need to submit their Aadhaar card and land documents. They also need to give the address where the pump set is installed so electricity can be provided on time.
