Huawei Mate XTs 2025: Huawei has officially launched its second-generation tri-fold smartphone, the Mate XTs, on September 4, 2025, in China. This device is quite exciting for tech lovers as it has a unique tri-fold design and new Kirin 9020 chipset, which is Huawei’s in-house processor.

A Pioneering Tri-Fold Design

The Z-shaped tri-fold design is the most special feature of the Mate XTs. This design allows the device to be used in three ways. In single-screen mode, you get a 6.4-inch compact display, which feels like a normal smartphone. In dual-screen mode, the 7.9-inch display is perfect for multitasking and browsing. And in tri-screen mode, the full 10.2-inch display unfolds, offering a tablet-like experience for productivity and entertainment.

The phone’s Tiangong dual-hinge mechanism is quite smooth and sturdy, and it’s just 3.6mm thin when unfolded. There’s no official dust or water resistance certification, though.

Kirin 9020 Chip: Huawei’s In-House Power
The Mate XTs is powered by the new Kirin 9020 SoC, which is Huawei’s in-house processor and is used for the first time in a phone of this generation. It’s a rumored 7nm chip, paired with 16GB of RAM, and runs HarmonyOS 5.1. Huawei claims that this chip provides 36% better performance than the previous generation.

Camera System and Battery

The camera setup of the Mate XTs is co-engineered with Leica. There is a triple-camera at the rear: 50MP primary sensor, 40MP ultrawide, and 12MP periscope telephoto lens with 5.5x optical zoom. The front camera is an 8MP ultrawide angle selfie lens. The RYYB pixel layout enhances performance for low-light photography.

The battery has a 5,600mAh battery that supports 66W wired, 50W wireless, and 7.5W reverse wireless charging.

Price and Availability

The Huawei Mate XTs has been launched only in China. The 16GB RAM + 256GB storage variant is priced at CNY 17,999 (approx ₹2,22,300). The 1TB storage variant is priced at CNY 21,999 (approx ₹2,71,900). There is no official update on the international launch yet.

The Huawei Mate XTs is an example of a futuristic flagship smartphone with its innovative tri-fold design, powerful Kirin 9020 chip, and premium camera system that shows the future of mobile technology.
