You must know that in today’s world everyone wants to make driving easy and comfortable. Pressing the clutch again and again and changing gears while fighting in traffic seems no less than a nightmare. In such a situation, AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) has created a stir in the world of cars.
This technology handles the hassle of clutch and gear shifting on its own, making the drive smooth. Maruti calls it Auto Gear Shift (AGS) in its own style, while Hyundai introduced an affordable automatic option to buyers by making Santro its first AMT model. Now the question arises that which of these two is better in terms of performance – let’s find out.

Engine
The Hyundai Santro AMT is powered by a 1.1-litre Epsilon MPI petrol engine that generates 68bhp and 99Nm of torque. The Maruti WagonR AMT, on the other hand, is powered by a 1.2-litre K12M petrol engine that is more powerful and produces 82bhp of power and 113Nm of torque. These figures clearly show that the WagonR is going to offer a more punchy drive than the Santro.
Acceleration
When it comes to acceleration, the WagonR AMT outperforms the Santro. In our test, the WagonR achieved 0-60 kmph in just 6.19 seconds, while the Santro took 7.39 seconds.
Similarly, the WagonR performed better in the 0-100 kmph sprint as well. The WagonR took 13.94 seconds, while the Santro took 17.64 seconds. This difference shows that the WagonR’s higher power and torque make it a confident and nimble vehicle on the highway.

Performance
Hyundai Santro completed the 20-80 kmph roll-on (kick-down) test in 10.20 seconds, while WagonR completed it in just 8.23 seconds. Similarly, WagonR took 10.03 seconds for the 40-100 kmph run, while Santro took 12.65 seconds. That means whether it is city or highway, WagonR gives more responsive and smooth performance everywhere.
