Ration Card– Big news for Ration Card holders. More than 2 lakh people won’t be able to get ration anymore. Yes you’ve heard it right. If you live in Ghaziabad and take government ration every month through ration card, then this news is very important for you. The District Supply Department has made it clear that those who have not yet completed their e-KYC process will not get ration from next month.

According to the District Supply Department, there are currently about 4.48 lakh ration card holders in Ghaziabad and a total of 19.64 lakh beneficiaries are associated with them. Out of these, about 2.71 lakh people have not been able to get e-KYC done so far. The department has warned that if this process is not completed by August 31, 2025, then the names of all these beneficiaries will be removed from the system and they will not get government ration.

The department has been repeatedly appealing for several months that everyone should get their e-KYC done. People are also being informed continuously through the ration dealers. Earlier it used to happen that people used to get ration even without e-KYC, but now the rules have changed. Now the names of those who do not have e-KYC will not appear in the system and the ration dealer will not be able to give ration.

How will the e-KYC process be done?

The process of e-KYC is very easy. For this, the ration card holder will have to carry only his ration card and Aadhar card. E-KYC can be completed by doing biometric verification from the POS machine present at the nearest ration dealer. It is worth noting that it is necessary to do e-KYC of all the members registered in the ration card. If the process of even one member remains incomplete, then the name of the entire card can be removed from the list.

Who is at risk?

Those who have not done e-KYC on time, their government ration facility will be directly affected. About 2.71 lakh beneficiaries of Ghaziabad are currently at risk. If these people do not complete the process by 31 August, then from September they will stop getting free or cheap ration from the ration shop.

District Supply Department Officer Arvind Yadav says that e-KYC has been made mandatory to make the ration distribution system transparent and corruption free. If a beneficiary does not complete the process on time, his name will be automatically removed from the system. All beneficiaries are appealed to complete this process as soon as possible.

Why is e-KYC necessary?

Actually, the purpose of e-KYC is to ensure that only genuine and eligible people get the benefit of government ration. It has been seen many times that many cards have been made in the same name. Or people are taking ration in the wrong way by adding fake names. To stop such cases, the government has made e-KYC mandatory.
