DA Hike September- 7th Pay Commission News: There are going to be many changes related to the pockets of common people in the month of September. For example, oil companies will decide on the prices of LPG cylinders, while the rules related to hallmarking and credit cards are also changing. Apart from this, the month of September is also very important for central employees. We are saying this because in September the government can take a decision on dearness allowance or DA.
Usually, the decision on DA for the second half i.e. from July to December is taken around Sharadiya Navratri. Since this time Navratri is starting from 22 September, it is expected that a decision on the allowance will be taken in this month itself. However, last year, the central government had announced the dearness allowance about a week after the end of Navratri.
How much can be the increase?
Currently, the DA of central employees is 55% and it is expected to increase by 3% to 58% in the next revision period. This will be the last DA revision under the Seventh Pay Commission, as the term of the commission ends on December 31, 2025. Let us tell you that the Seventh Pay Commission, implemented from January 2016, had recommended giving DA twice a year. This was on a half-yearly basis.
8th Pay Commission has been announced
Let us tell you that the 8th Pay Commission was announced in January 2025 but the government has not yet set the terms of reference (ToR) for the new commission nor have the members been appointed. In such a situation, it is being speculated that the implementation of the recommendations of the Eighth Pay Commission may be delayed. According to a report by Kotak Institutional Equities, the 8th Pay Commission is unlikely to be implemented before late 2026 or early 2027.
