Toyota Innova HyCross CNG vs Maruti Ertiga CNG : With increasing fuel prices, Indian families are now more than ever searching for economical and friendly options of transportation. In this context, two most popular choices in the 7-seater CNG segment are the Toyota Innova HyCross CNG and the Maruti Ertiga CNG. Spacious interiors and the advantages of CNG are there in both, but they cater to different needs and budgets. The comparison should help in deciding which vehicle is best suited for your family.

With its robust 1462 cc engine with an output of 86.63 bhp and torque of 121.5 Nm, the Maruti Ertiga CNG compensates all urban usage. With a staggering mileage of about 26.1 km/kg, on-paper this vehicle appears to be an extremely fuel-efficient option for city and long-distance trips alike. The Innova HyCross, which does not come with a factory-fitted option for CNG, can be fitted with CNG in the aftermarket. Performance levels and reliability-wise, there are vast differences between aftermarket installations, with installation quality and warranty implications being some important aspects to consider before making this choice.

Seven adults can sit comfortably in either vehicle. The Maruti Ertiga, with its adequate legroom and headroom, is certainly the best option for an urban family that is practical and needs good daily usage. The larger MPV Toyota Innova HyCross has options for either 7 or 8 passengers, pushing an even further premium on amenities and seating capacity for families that prefer comfort and luxury on long trips.

The Maruti Ertiga CNG is packed with basic features such as a touchscreen infotainment unit, automatic climate control, dual airbags, and ABS. It provides a good balance of technology and comfort for the price. The Toyota Innova HyCross, especially in hybrid variants, comes fitted with exquisite features such as a panoramic sunroof, premium audio system, and a full-fledged set of safety technologies. CNG-converted versions may or may not carry these features depending on the conversion kit.

While pricing at ₹11.16 lakh or so (ex-showroom), the Maruti Ertiga CNG, apart from being one of the best value propositions with its fuel efficiency and a reliable system of factory-fitted CNG, will offer the Innova HyCross, whose hybrids range from ₹19.94 lakh to ₹28.44 lakh, for the premium segment. And, the converted versions in CNG are presumably much more expensive than the Ertiga ones for which one may not have the assurance upon factory support.
