Aadhaar Card Update- Big news for Aadhaar Card holders. The Unique Identification Authority of India ( UIDAI ) on Wednesday appealed to all schools across the country to ensure timely mandatory biometric update of Aadhaar for children aged 5 to 15 years. In this regard, UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar has written a letter to the Chief Secretaries of the states and union territories, requesting them to complete the pending biometric updates by organizing camps in schools.

New initiative for Aadhaar update in schools

UIDAI has started this facility in collaboration with the Department of School Education and Literacy, under which schools will get information through the UDISE+ application about which children’s mandatory biometric update is pending. This will make it easier to update the Aadhaar of crores of students across the country on time.

UIDAI has said that it is very important to update the biometrics of children at the age of 5 and again at the age of 15. This ensures that the biometric data of children in Aadhaar remains correct and reliable. At present, biometric update is pending in about 17 crore Aadhaar numbers. If the children’s numbers are not updated on time, then in the future there may be problems in getting the benefits of government schemes, registering for competitive and university examinations (such as NEET, JEE, CUET etc.).

Appeal for cooperation from states

In his letter, the UIDAI chief has urged the states and union territories to complete this work by organizing special camps in schools. He said that to inform schools about which student’s biometrics have not been updated, the technical teams of UIDAI and the School Education Department have jointly developed a solution for this on the UDISE+ app.
