Even before the new income tax rules come into force, the government has started working on a simpler form. It is said that the new rules will be announced by December to implement the new Income Tax law. This law will start from April 1 next year.
RN Parbat, Member (Law) of the Central Board of Direct Taxes, said that the Income Tax Department is working on an easy-to-use tax form. The goal is to notify the new rules by the end of December so that the new Income Tax Act can start from April 1 next year.
Parbat said that after the new rules are implemented, filing tax returns for regular taxpayers will become easier and more transparent. According to a report in the Economic Times, he also said that the department will issue a new set of frequently asked questions (FAQs), standard operating procedures (SOPs), and guidance notes about the new Income Tax Act.
The new Income Tax Bill 2025 has been approved by the President. It will replace the old Income Tax Act of 1961. The law was passed by Parliament on August 12 and will come into effect from April 1, 2026.
Easy Language for New Tax Rules
R.N. Parbat, Member (Legislation) of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), said that the Income Tax Department is making new rules simple. The goal is to use easy words and remove unnecessary rules. He said, “We are using the same approach as we did for the Income Tax Act. The language will be simple. Old and useless rules and forms will be removed.”
This will make income tax processes easier and clearer. The government is also making paying taxes easier so that taxpayers have less trouble. The new rules will be simple, and FAQs, guidance notes, and SOPs will also be given. Technology will be used as much as possible.
