Honda Elevate: Honda is ready for a massive product roll-out in India. The Japanese auto major is poised to launch electric and hybrid cars in its lineup in the next couple of years. Currently selling only Amaze, City, and Elevate, Honda now wants to attract more customers by introducing new models with latest technology and new design.
Honda Elevate EV
Honda has announced that it will enter India’s electric vehicle market in the near future. The initial EV will be derived from the best-selling Elevate SUV but will have a different name and body. It will roll out from Honda’s Tapukara plant in Rajasthan with launch planned for the first half of 2026.
Elevate EV will go head-to-head with Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV, and Maruti e-Vitara. It will also be part of Honda’s ACE project with significant exports to other markets. Although battery details are not out yet, more details are on the way as launch approaches.
New-Gen Honda City Hybrid
Honda first introduced India to a strong-hybrid powertrain in the City e:HEV. A new-generation model is currently in the making. Based on the PF2 architecture, the new City will be locally higher in order to maintain costs at a competitive level. Although the hybrid powertrain combination with 1.5L petrol engine and two electric motors will continue, the design, cabin, and features will be totally overhauled. Launch has been scheduled for the latter half of 2027 with an expected price range of ₹15–30 lakh (ex-showroom).
Honda 7-Seater SUV Hybrid
A completely new three-row SUV is also under development from Honda. The SUV will be based on the PF2 modular platform and will compete with Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, and Hyundai Alcazar. The model will have co-development with the participation of Honda’s R&D centers in Thailand, Japan, and India.
The new SUV will be powered by a locally developed hybrid setup, which is likely an enhanced version of the City e:HEV’s system. It will integrate two electric motors, a compact battery, and a 1.5L petrol engine. Being a self-charging hybrid, it will automatically shift between petrol, hybrid, and EV modes for efficiency. Launch is scheduled for early 2027.
