Every citizen in India has the right to vote, but this is possible only if their name is registered in the voter list. Bihar is in the news these days regarding this issue as assembly elections are going to be held in the state this year. In this episode, the Election Commission has started a special revision of the voter list of Bihar after nearly two decades. The main objective of this initiative is to ensure that only real citizens can vote and fake names can be removed.
Election Commission released the list of removed names
After the order of the Supreme Court on August 14, the Election Commission has taken a big step and made public the list of names removed during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign. This list is now available on the official website of the Commission. It includes the names of all those voters who have been excluded from the draft voter list.
How to check your name in the Bihar voter list
The Election Commission has provided several options for the convenience of voters. If you want to know whether your name is on the voter list or not, you can check it through various means.
Check by EPIC number
- First of all, go to voters.eci.gov.in or electoralsearch.eci.gov.in website.
- Enter your EPIC number and security code there.
- After clicking on “Search”, your voter details will appear if your name is in the list.
Check the details on the VSP portal
- Go to the National Voter Service Portal (NVSP) and select the “Search in Electoral Roll” option.
- Here you can enter name, age, date of birth, state, district, and assembly constituency.
- Along with this, you can also search by EPIC number.
- If your name is in the list, the name and serial number of the booth will also be visible.
Check from the mobile app
Download the official mobile app of the Election Commission and search for the name by entering your information there.
Check through SMS
You can also find out your name by sending your EPIC number to 7738299899. However, this service is not always available, so it is safer to check through the website and app.

What to do if the name is not found
If your name is not seen in the voter list or there is an error, then there is no need to worry. You can apply to add a new name by filling out Form 6 through the NVSP portal or mobile app. Apart from this, your name can also be seen by going to the “Search in Roll” option on the website of the Chief Electoral Officer of Bihar (CEO Bihar).
