Asia Cup 2025 will start on 9th next month in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The date 14th September is very important because a match was supposed to be played between India and Pakistan. However, there is a lot of opposition to this match, and a former Indian batsman has now confirmed that it will not happen.

After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in April, relations between India and Pakistan became very tense. India has opposed any kind of activity with Pakistan on every front. India also carried out Operation Sindoor in response to this attack and destroyed terrorist bases in Pakistan. In retaliation, the Pakistani army attacked but was defeated. Because of these events, there is strong opposition to a cricket match between India and Pakistan.

India vs Pakistan Match Faces Opposition

There was also a match between India and Pakistan in the World Championship of Legends (WCL) played in England last month, but the Indian Champions team refused to play. Because of this, the proposed match in Asia Cup 2025 is also being opposed. Many people now believe that this match should not happen.

Match Likely Not to Happen

Former Indian batsman Kedar Jadhav believes there should not be a match between India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup. He said that India has the power to defeat Pakistan anywhere, but still, India should avoid playing this match. He even guaranteed that it will not happen.

Speaking to Cricket 365, Jadhav said, “I think the Indian team should not play against Pakistan. India can win against Pakistan anywhere, but I can guarantee that this match should not happen. Operation Sindoor was very successful. We responded immediately. The new, growing India has shown it has the power to destroy its enemy in their own country.”

Harbhajan Also Opposes

Harbhajan Singh, who was part of India Champions in WCL, also opposed this match. The WCL included retired players like Suresh Raina, Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, and Yuvraj Singh.

Harbhajan told the Times of India, “They need to understand what is important and what is not. For me, the soldiers standing at the border, whose families do not see them for a long time and who sometimes sacrifice their lives, are much more important than the India vs Pakistan match. We can skip playing one match. This is a very small issue.”

Many voices are now against this match, and it will be interesting to see whether India plays it or not.
