To further strengthen the health security for senior citizens, the central government has launched the Ayushman Vaya Vandana card in October 2024. This card is a part of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY). This scheme is specially designed for those who need better health facilities the most at this stage of age.
This card is better than the normal Ayushman scheme as it is for those above 70 years and it provides health cover of double the amount, i.e., up to ₹ 10 lakh, whereas in the normal card this cover is only up to ₹ 5 lakh.
Who is eligible for this scheme?

The Government of India has launched the Ayushman Vaya Vandana card in October 2024 to further strengthen the health security of senior citizens. This scheme is being run under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY). This card is a big gift for all Indian citizens aged 70 years and above.

First of all, go to the official website of NHA or download the Ayushman app.
Log in via OTP by entering your mobile number and captcha.
Click on the link ‘Senior Citizen Scheme’.
Fill in your Aadhaar number and captcha.
If you are applying for the first time, choose the option of ‘Fresh Enrollment’.
Complete your e-KYC process and provide the required information.
Also, fill in the details of any of your family members.
After the registration is complete, your card will be available for download in 10-20 minutes.
