Tata Punch EV vs Citroen eC3 : Electric cars are becoming a fashionable choice in India, especially budget EVs. For the city buyer looking for an affordable electric option, the Tata Punch EV and the Citroen eC3 are two formidable contenders. Both have their shares of modern styling, practicality, and decent driving range for everyday use. But which one will make it to the throne of budget EVs in 2025? Let’s put them through comparison.
Design And Features
Tata Punch EV looks bold and muscular, full-on SUVish, exact same design as the petrol version, with the help of some EV-specific touches like a closed grille and blue highlights. It offers provision for large touchscreens, a digital cluster, 360-degree cameras, and even sunroofs in higher variants. On the contrary, the Citroen eC3’s design is quite quirky and in-your-face stylish, with contrasting color options. While the cabin is spacious, the features on offer, however, are limited compared to the Punch EV.

Performance and Range
Performance is paramount here in EVs. The Punch EV, with its two battery options, ranges from approximately 315 km to 420 km, depending on the variant chosen. Check on fast charging, great for those who plan to do quite a bit of driving. The Citroen eC3, on the other hand, showcases one small 29.2 kWh battery with a range of around 320 km, a fair one but notably lower than Tata’s lengthy option. In terms of driving, Punch EV feels more powerful and more responsive while eC3 gives importance to comfort and smooth driving in the city.
Price and Value for Money
When put against direct competition, the eC3 is slightly cheaper than the Punch EV, thus appealing for buyers with tight budgets. However, the Punch EV with more features, much better range options, and a strong chance of resale value since Tata has already earned trust in the market with Nexon EV and Tiago EV.

Both the Tata Punch EV and Citroen eC3 are viable options if you want to venture into electric cars but do not want to spend much. If one is looking for more features, performance, and extended range options, then the Punch EV would be the wiser choice. But in all fairness, if a good-looking comfortable, and slightly cheaper EV is the order of the day, the Citroen eC3 will suit one just fine. In short, altogether, the Punch EV feels like a more complete product, whereas the eC3 stands tall alongside as a better alternative for city buyers.
