Rules Were Followed
According to a statement by Chennai Super Kings, all actions taken to sign Dewald Brevis as a replacement player in IPL 2025 followed the rules of the IPL.
In April 2025, Brevis was added to the team for Rs 2.2 crore as a replacement for the injured Gurjpanit Singh. Singh was bought for the same amount in the auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. A replacement player can be signed on a league fee. This fee cannot be more than the fee of the injured or unavailable player for that season. If a replacement player joins during the season, the fee will be reduced based on the matches played by the team before he was registered and other deductions in the player contract.
