Team India’s Ace fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has once again shown why he is so important in Test cricket. After a great performance in the recent Test series against England, where he played three matches, talk about his possible retirement from the format started to spread.

His drop in pace during the second innings of the fourth Test in Manchester made some people worried, and a few even said he might soon retire from Test cricket. However, Bumrah has clearly denied these rumours.

Bumrah Clears the Air

The 31-year-old, currently ranked No. 1 in the ICC Test bowling rankings, recently returned from a serious back injury. He got the injury during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, which kept him out for several months.

During his recovery, doctors reportedly told the BCCI to manage Bumrah’s workload carefully. Keeping this in mind, head coach Gautam Gambhir said before the England tour that Bumrah would rest for two of the five Tests.

As planned, he played the first, third, and fourth matches. But his drop in pace during the Manchester Test made people think he might be close to retiring from Test cricket.

Instagram Message Silences Doubts

With rumours growing, and even former cricketer Mohammad Kaif hinting that Bumrah might leave Test cricket, the pacer spoke for himself.

On August 5, Bumrah posted photos from the England series on Instagram with the caption: “We take back great memories from a highly competitive and enthralling Test series! Looking forward to what happens next.”

This one line made it clear that Bumrah has no plans to retire from the format any time soon.

Kaif’s Words Spark Speculation

Earlier, Mohammad Kaif shared his concern during the fourth Test, pointing out Bumrah’s physical struggles. He said the pacer might walk away from Tests if he felt he could not give his best.

“If he feels he can’t give 100%, he may step away. His body isn’t supporting him like before. Indian fans might soon have to watch Tests without Bumrah,” Kaif said in a social media video.

But Bumrah’s answer was strong and clear — India’s top fast bowler is not going anywhere, and Test cricket fans can relax for now.
