Maruti Y17 SUV
This new SUV from Maruti, which has been internally codenamed Y17, was till now known as Escudo. But now it has been revealed that it will be launched as Y17. This SUV will be sold through Maruti’s huge Arena network, which includes more than 3,000 showrooms across the country.

Its biggest feature will be its multiple powertrain options, which include petrol, CNG and hybrid variants. Maruti has built it on a platform shared with SUVs like Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyrider.
Engine
1.5L Naturally Aspirated Petrol (103 HP) – This engine will come with a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. In the automatic variant, it will also get AWD (All-Wheel Drive) option.
CNG Variant (88 HP) – This will be a great option for those who want fuel efficiency.
Petrol-Electric Hybrid (116 HP) – This will be the top-end variant, which will get a combination of better mileage and performance.
Arena Networks
Maruti has decided to sell this SUV through its Arena showrooms and not through Nexa. The reason for this is that the company wants to keep the Y17 a little low-profile and affordable than the Grand Vitara.
This is similar to the relationship between the Ertiga (Arena) and XL6 (Nexa). The Arena network is more expansive (3,000+ showrooms) while Nexa has just 600 dealerships. This means that the Y17 will be accessible to a much larger audience.

Price and competition
Talking about its price, Maruti Y17 will be introduced as a value-for-money SUV. Its price can be kept lower than SUVs like Creta, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun. Apart from this, with the help of CNG and hybrid variants, it will also attract customers who want fuel efficiency and eco-friendly options.
