LPG Gas Tips- LPG cylinders are used for cooking in most homes in India. Under the government’s Ujjwala scheme, gas cylinders have also been delivered to needy families, due to which a large population of the country is using it today. But, along with its utility, it is very important to take care of safety, because due to negligence, incidents of accidents from gas cylinders also come to the fore. Incidents like fire, explosion, and gas leakage can cause huge loss of life and property. So let us know in this article how to use LPG cylinder safely and what things to keep in mind so that accidents can be avoided.
The first reason is gas leakage . Gas can leak if the cylinder valve is damaged, the rubber tube (hose pipe) connecting to the gas stove is old or torn, or the gas regulator is not fitted properly. This is a very dangerous situation, because the gas accumulated in the kitchen can cause fire or explosion due to any spark or switching on of the switch after coming in contact with air.
The second major reason is not storing the LPG cylinder properly. The cylinder should always be kept in a ventilated and cool place. It should never be kept in direct sunlight, in a hot place, or in a completely closed room where there is no air ventilation. Excessive heat in such places can cause the gas pressure inside the cylinder to increase, which can cause danger.
The third reason is related to the carelessness of the user. Many times people forget to close the regulator of the cylinder after cooking or go out of the kitchen leaving the gas stove burning. These habits are extremely dangerous. Apart from this, flammable materials such as spray cans etc. should not be kept near the gas stove or cylinder. In such a situation, it is very important to be careful while cooking and close all the connections properly after using the gas.
The last and an important reason is the use of non-standard or poor quality appliances. Gas stoves, regulators and rubber tubes without ISI mark are often available in the market, which do not meet the safety standards. Using such appliances increases the risk of gas leakage or other malfunction, which can lead to a major accident. To ensure the safety of yourself and your family, always buy only appliances certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards (ISI).
