The increase in dearness allowance is announced twice a year in February-March and September-October.
In March of this year, with a 2 per cent hike, the current DA rate was increased to 55 per cent.
DA is given to government employees, and DR is given to pensioners.
After a 4 per cent increase, the dearness allowance will rise from the current 55 per cent to 59 per cent.
This increase in dearness allowance will take effect from July, but the exact date of its official announcement is not yet known.
To address rising inflation, every employee receives a dearness allowance in addition to their basic salary.
