Windsor EV: In the rapidly growing electric vehicle segment, a new EV has impressed Indian buyers in a big way. With its cutting-edge features, budget-friendly price tag, and strong performance, the model gained attention from metro cities as well as tier two and three towns soon. It has now reached a milestone that many successful EVs achieved within years.

Windsor EV, launched by JSW MG Motor India, has achieved a new sales record in the Indian electric vehicle market. Within 9 months, from October 2024 to June 2025, more than 30,000 units have been sold. With this, Windsor EV emerged as the country’s fastest-selling electric vehicle, even surpassing popular brands such as Creta EV and Nexon EV in terms of sale speed.

This 5-seater electric vehicle alone accounted for 59% of the firm’s overall car sales during this time. Due to its high demand, Windsor EV made JSW MG the second-largest e-passenger vehicle brand in the market, ranking second only to Tata Motors.

Variants and Range

The Windsor EV comes in two variants. The Standard model is equipped with a 38kWh battery that has a range of 332 km. The Pro variant is offered with a bigger 52.9kWh battery, which provides up to 449 km range. For buyers opting for the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option, the price of the base model begins at a mere ₹9.99 lakh, making it India’s most affordable EV. With this option, the battery price is not tagged, and customers pay ₹4.50 per km additionally for battery usage.

The battery will be provided with the full Pro model at a price of ₹18.09 lakh (ex-showroom). The same Pro model is available for just ₹13.09 lakh with the BaaS plan.

Key Features of Windsor EV

Windsor EV offers segment-first features that make it unique. It features a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment, ventilated front seats, and a 6-way power driver seat. Safety is also assured with six airbags, a 360-degree camera system, and rain-sensing wipers.

To top that, it also comes with a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, and a whopping 604-litre boot capacity. Customers also receive a lifetime battery warranty as part of the package, providing reassurance for use over the long term.

Battery-as-a-Service Plan Explained

The BaaS strategy has been a major factor in Windsor’s success. It lets customers purchase the EV at a lower initial cost by leasing the battery rather than buying it. This makes the vehicle more affordable and lowers the starting price point for most purchasers.
