Samsung’s In-House AI Tools Will Remain Free

As per a statement made to Android Police, Samsung made it clear that all AI features built in-house and shipped with Galaxy smartphones, tablets, and wearables will remain free forever. They include fundamental utilities such as Live Translate, Note Assist, Generative Wallpapers, Audio Eraser, Object Eraser, and Writing Assist. All of these are intended to enhance communication, productivity, and editing media for users. Initially launched along with the Galaxy S24 lineup in early 2024, all of these features are now included in One UI 7 and One UI 8, and can be found on newer models like the Galaxy S25, Z Fold 7, and Watch 8.

Some Galaxy AI Features Rely on Google

Yet, not every Galaxy AI application is created by Samsung. Certain high-end features leverage Google’s Gemini AI system for functions such as voice commands and advanced photo editing. The Gemini-based features are presently free but might be charged in the future. For instance, Google’s Gemini Advanced subscription already unlocks stronger AI capabilities like video creation, suggesting that certain premium features might turn paid.

Misunderstanding of the “Free Until 2025” Statement

Recently, Samsung’s referral to Galaxy AI tools being free until the end of 2025 raised confusion. Most took it that all AI features could soon cost money. But Samsung has since clarified that this referred primarily to Google’s offerings, not Samsung’s tools. With over 400 million devices planned to come with Galaxy AI by the end of 2025, clarification is necessary to uphold users’ trust and transparency.

Samsung Guarantees No Hidden Fees for Core AI Features

With this newest update, Samsung has made it clear where its in-house innovations and Google’s third-party features stand. Now, users can trust Galaxy AI’s fundamental tools without subscription charges. Although there is a possibility that Google might charge for some services, Samsung’s contribution to the AI process is going to be free forever.
