PhonePe, GPay, Paytm- Big news for PhonePe, GPay, Paytm users. If you also make UPI payments through apps like PhonePe, Google Pay or Paytm, then there is important news for you. From August 1, 2025, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is going to implement some new rules, which will directly affect your everyday digital transactions.
NPCI aims to make the UPI system faster, secure and more reliable to prevent issues like server down or transaction failure.
4 important changes to be implemented from August 1
1. Balance check limit is fixed
Now you will be able to check balance maximum 50 times in a day from any UPI app. This will reduce the extra load on the system.
2. Information about linked bank accounts
You will be able to check bank account details linked to your mobile number only 25 times a day.
3. Fixed time slot for autopay payments
Subscription payments like Netflix or SIP will now be processed only during non-peak times:
before 10 a.m.
Between 1 and 5 p.m.
After 9:30 p.m.
4. Check status limit of stuck transactions
If a payment gets stuck, you will be able to check its status only 3 times. There will be a gap of at least 90 seconds between checking each time.

Use only trusted apps and websites
Do not download unknown links or apps
While installing the app, please check the name of the publisher
Before sending money, verify the name and ID displayed on the UPI screen
Never share your PIN or OTP with anyone claiming to be a bank, police or government official
Read SMS and app notifications carefully
If you notice any suspicious activity, immediately contact the bank or app customer care
