FASTag Rules- With the Central Government’s Annual Fastag Pass Scheme, any expressway or access controlled national highway in the country can be crossed by paying a toll tax of just Rs. 15. Because, in the annual Fastag pass, there is a provision to charge the toll tax from the traveller on the basis of crossing one toll plaza instead of the distance. This scheme is going to start from 15th August.

The notification of the annual Fastag Pass Scheme of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways on June 17 also mentions that the entry-exit toll plazas on expressways and access controlled national highways will be treated as one toll gate.

The driver can cross 200 toll plazas

A senior official of the ministry said that at the first toll plaza of the expressway, a slip is given to the car driver and at the exit toll gate, the toll tax is deducted from the fastag according to the second slip, but under the Rs 3000 annual fastag scheme of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the driver can cross 200 toll plazas. In this way, he will have to pay only Rs 15 toll for crossing each toll plaza. There is a provision of toll tax every 60 kilometers.

NHAI spokesperson admitted that as per the notification regarding the annual Fastag pass of Rs. 3000, a traveller will have to pay only Rs. 15 as toll tax on access control and expressways. But technically this does not seem feasible. For example, the distance of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is 1386 km. The toll for this distance is at least 500-600 rupees. The department is considering making amendments in this.
